HT NIOSH Lift calculator By Humantech, Inc.

By some estimates, the effects of manual material handling represent the biggest single contributor to worker injury in the United States.
According to the 2010 Liberty Mutual Workplace Safety Index, overexertion injuries (which include injuries related to lifting) are the most disabling of all workplace injuries, accounting for $13.4 billion in direct costs. In 1991, NIOSH (The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) developed the NIOSH Lifting Equation to “assist in the identification of ergonomic solutions for reducing physical stressors associated with manual lifting.” This model has been widely used by industrial safety professionals since its creation. Now you can take it with you.

The certified professional ergonomists (CPEs) at Humantech developed htLiftCalc to quickly and easily perform the NIOSH Lifting Equation whenever and wherever you need it. It is available for use in both metric and standard measurement. You can use this application at the job site to evaluate both existing and proposed lifting conditions to determine the Recommended Weight Limit (RWL) of a specific job or task. It can also help you prioritize hazardous jobs that require ergonomic intervention. htLiftCalc is copyright of Humantech, Inc.
It is formulated according to the work of Thomas R. Water, PhD; Vern Putz-Anderson, PhD; and Arun Garg, PhD of NIOSH as described in the Applications Manual for the Revised NIOSH Lifting Equation (NIOSH, January 1994).

WISER by National Library of Medicine

WISER (Wireless Information System for Emergency Responders) is a mobile application designed to assist first responders in hazardous material incidents.

WISER: Information from Authoritative Sources First responders in general, and HAZMAT units in particular, must make many decisions quickly in handling hazardous-materials incidents. They need accurate information about the hazardous substances, the emergency resources available, and the surrounding environmental conditions to save lives and minimize the impact on the environment and physical property.
The WISER application extracts content from TOXNET’s Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB), an authoritative, peer-reviewed information resource maintained by the National Library of Medicine, and places that information into the hands of those who need it most.

Features of WISER
* Rapid access to the most important information about a hazardous substance by an intelligent synopsis engine and display called “Key Info”
* Intuitive, simple, logical user interface developed by working with experienced first responders
* Comprehensive decision support, including guidance on immediate actions necessary to save lives and protect the environment
* Access to NLM’s Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB), which contains detailed peer-reviewed information on hazardous substances
* User Profiles enable users to specify the role they are currently playing at the scene of an incident: first responder, HAZMAT specialist, or EMS specialist. The key information presented to the user about a substance varies depending on this role, so that the information most relevant to the respective job can be quickly accessed.
* Radiological and biological substance support.
* Mobile support, providing first responders critical information where they need it, when they need it.

Predictive Solutions SafetyNet by Predictive Solutions

The SafetyNet app from Predictive Solutions allows customers to predict, and ultimately prevent, workplace injuries. First, the app allows customers to conduct inspections and collect workplace safety observations from their jobsites. Next, the app synchs these observations with the SafetyNet web application where advanced and predictive analytics are performed on the data. The SafetyNet predictive analytics helps customers identify where they are most likely to have a safety incident or injury, and then report and communicate that information to their work teams and management.

Key Features:
• Configure to match your company’s safety observation program including checklists, worksite locations, team members and other relevant information
• Add detailed information during inspections, such as comments and severity levels
• Mark items for follow up and assign actions, responsibility and due dates
• Upload your observations to SafetyNet with the tap of a button to ensure that data is available in real time
• Provide feedback to observers and inspectors, in real time, to ensure quality data is being collected
